Biografía
Estudió Comunicación Audiovisual en Madrid y ha realizado varios talleres de documentales. Lo que ha forjado su visión del mundo y me ha animado a retratarla ha sido la posibilidad de conocer otros países y tener una cámara. Ha vivido y trabajado en Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Nueva York, Cuba, Inglaterra, Bosnia, Turquía, Irán, Afganistán y Paquistán. Ha participado en la producción del largometraje Lo que soñó Sebastian de Rodrigo Rey Rosa en Guatemala y Se trancó el Dominó de Jordi Olivé en Cuba. También ha realizado cortos documentales, entre ellos: Intersecciones, para ser proyectado en tres pantallas, reflexiona sobre las secuelas del conflicto y la convivencia en Bosnia, y Todavía soy Piedra, para ser proyectado en dos pantallas, sobre la función del arte y la cultura local en la reconstrucción de Afganistán.
Biography
She studied Audiovisual Communication and attended several documentary filmmaking workshops. But what shaped her vision of life and pushed her to portray it has been the possibility of knowing other countries and to have a camera. She lived and worked in Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Cuba, New York, England, Bosnia, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. She was part of the production team for What Sebastian Dreamt by Rodrigo Rey Rosa in Guatemala and for Se trancó el Dominó by Jordi Olivé in Cuba. She has directed short documentary films, among them: Intersections, to be projected in three screens, reflects on the consequences of conflict and the challenges of coexistence in Bosnia, and I’m still a stone, to be projected in two screens, about the role of art and local culture in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
Sinopsis
La autora de este documental salió en autostop hacia Pakistán con la intención de grabar algo diferente a lo que nos enseñan los medios de comunicación de países etiquetados como islámicos, asociados al integrismo y velados por una serie de estereotipos que tienen en el centro de mira a la figura de la mujer. Durante trece meses viajó y vivió en Bosnia, Turquía, Irán, Afganistán y Pakistán. Miradas desveladas retrata la vida de cinco mujeres que se cruzaron en su camino. Ellas, como la autora, han elegido el arte para expresarse. El performance, el cine, la música, la poesía y la danza son las herramientas que usan para pintar a su manera el proyecto de vida que han soñado.
Synopsis
The creator of this documentary hitchhiked her way to Pakistan with the aim of recording something other than the usual mass-media portrayals of the so-called “Islamic” countries, which are often associated with fundamentalism and fogged by a number of stereotypes that pigeonhole women. For thirteen months, she travelled and lived in Bosnia, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Unveiled Views describes the lives of five women who crossed her path. Like the filmmaker, these women have chosen art as a means of selfexpression. Performance, cinema, music, poetry and dance are the tools they use, in their own special way, to paint the lives that they have envisioned for themselves.
