March 21st and 22nd, Room Dalia, Hotel Fiesta Americana
Since 2005, the Guadalajara International Film Festival set the platform for the Ibero-American Coproduction Meeting in an effort to contribute to the development of the Mexican and Ibero-American film industry. The main goal of this meeting is to bring the projects in development closer to international financing funds as well as producers seeking co-productions.
This year, a total of 25 projects will be thoroughly reviewed and selected to be presented from March 21st until the 23rd in one-on-one personal meetings with potential co-producers attending the Festival who are interested in new proposals of the Ibero-American film industry. Since the last edition we have extended the entry to feature documentary films due to the great interest shown by the participants of the previous editions of the Meeting.
This year, the Coproduction Meeting will be complemented with the presentation of the Hubert Bals Fund, the Dutch fund devoted to support the production of films from developing countries. Their representatives will be explaining their policies and activities so that young producers and filmmakers know firsthand the ways to apply for a grant or funding.
One of the participating projects will be selected in Guadalajara as the winner of the Estudios Churubusco Award (Churubusco Studios Award), consisting mainly in providing services from the Estudios Churubusco ranging from a minimum amount of $500,000 (five hundred thousand Mexican pesos) and up to $1,500,000- (one million five hundred thousand Mexican pesos), depending on the size of the project. The total amount of the award will be offered at the prices listed at Estudios Churubusco. Depending on the extent of their contribution the Estudios Churubusco could determine their participation as co-producers of the awarded project.
As a part of the collaboration agreement between The Guadalajara Film Market and the Marché du Film of the Cannes Film Festival, the producer of the winning project will benefit from a free accreditation to participate in the Producers Network, Marché du Film Festival de Cannes, 2009.
